Dr. Guy Faulkner – Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years (0-4 Years): An Integration of Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviour and Sleep

July 18th, 2018

The Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years outline the recommended balance of physical activity, high-quality sedentary behaviour and sufficient sleep for healthy growth and development.
In this presentation, Dr. Faulkner described the relationships between movement behaviours (i.e., light, moderate, and vigorous physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep) and health indicators in children of the early years. He summarized the key elements of the public health guideline development process and shared valuable strategies for applying the guidelines in our work with children of the early years.
